Love Is a Stranger

In the heart of Rio de Janeiro, detective Vania has dedicated her life to protecting women who are victims of domestic violence. But behind her fierce determination lies a deeply painful past: years earlier, in her small hometown, she herself suffered the abuse of her jealous and possessive husband Paulo — an obsession that drove her to the brink of death and ended in his tragic suicide, leaving her unfairly blamed by the community. Shunned, stripped of custody of her daughter Andrea, and forced to start over, Vania reinvents herself as a detective. Throughout the first season, she faces harrowing cases that mirror her own past, while her quest to reunite with her daughter and clear her name haunts her like an open wound.
